Why Does Concealer Crease Under Eyes?

Last updated

Concealer can settle into the natural folds under the eyes as you blink, smile, and move your face. A little creasing is common.

Fix it in 30 seconds

Try this first

If it looks heavier than you want, first test using less concealer—not a completely new routine.

What it looks like

Why this can happen

More product than the area needs

Why it can happen: A thicker layer gives more material that can move and collect as the skin folds.

What to try: Reduce the amount of concealer.

A very slippery or very dry base

Why it can happen: A rich layer underneath can make concealer move more easily, while a very dry surface can make texture look more obvious.

What to try: Test less skincare immediately underneath.

Too much or too little powder for that formula

Why it can happen: Powder can reduce movement for some products, but a heavy layer can also make the area look drier and more textured.

What to try: Compare a very light set with no powder.

Normal facial movement

Why it can happen: Even a well-applied concealer can crease somewhat because the skin around the eyes is not stationary.

What to try: Notice whether a small amount of settling is within the result you enjoy.

What beginners often assume

Mistake or product problem?

Technique may contribute

  • Too much product
  • Heavy layering
  • Too much powder

The product may contribute

  • A very thick or emollient texture
  • Poor interaction with other layers

Start with one small technique change. If it does not help, compare a different texture or finish without blaming yourself.
